Pioneer

August 28, 2013

When Pioneer debuted last month, and when talking with my knitting friends, it wasn't so much, "Which one are you going to knit?", but more, "Which ones are you going to knit"?  Pioneer by Martin Storey is filled with beautiful fall and winter designs.  Lots of cable and texture in gorgeous wools for both men and women.  The book uses this description,  A collection of hand knits for both men and women inspired by the pioneer look of the Midwest and hand crafted lifestyle.  I predict this will become one of those classic books that people will be knitting from for years to come.  I'd like to show you a few of my favorites.  First up are the three I'll be making from this book.

My absolute favorite, Homeland, large cables using Rowan Big Wool.  I'm knitting it in pale blue.

Love this easy wearable vest, Schooner, using Pure Wool Aran.  I am using a pale gray Rowan Tweed.

Heath in Big Wool, will be making this for my granddaughter's 13th birthday.  Wool shopping with her this weekend!

Frontiersman in Big Wool.  Best looking men's sweater ever.

Settler in Pure Wool Aran.  Very wearable.

Quilt, the cover girl, intarsia in Creative Focus Worsted, also in men's version.

Shelter, a classic cabled cardi in Pure Wool Aran.

Wilderness using Creative Focus Worsted.  Love the textured stitch.

Dwell, a beautiful honeycomb cabled cardi in Pure Wool Aran.

Crockett in Creative Focus Worsted, also in women's version. Beautiful cabled windowpane check.

Have you started your fall knitting?
